"CALL BEFORE YOU DIG" - That's the motto of the Tennessee One Call System. Whether you are building an addition, laying a patio, or just planting a garden - call before you dig. Gallatin Public Utilities has a complex network of pipelines and appurtenances buried underground. It is very important for you to know where these pipelines are located before you start digging. This is why we work closely with Tennessee One Call System.
Tennessee law requires anyone about to engage in digging, excavation, moving of earth, demolition, or any other type of activity that disturbs the earth and thereby potentially posing a danger of damaging underground utility lines, to notify Tennessee One Call of their intent to dig. You are required to call at least three (3) business days (excluding weekends and holidays) before you plan to dig. Once you make this call, Tennessee One Call will notify us of your proposed work and we will have 72 hours (excluding weekends and holidays) to locate and mark our underground facilities. The locate request ticket you receive will be valid for only 15 calendar days from the start date you indicated on the ticket.
Digging without this information could not only be dangerous, but also costly, if you damage underground utilities. So the next time you plan to dig, do it safely by calling Tennessee One Call at 811.
