Gallatin Public Utilities strives to provide high quality water, sewer, and natural gas services at the lowest possible cost to our customers and rate payers. The utility rates must cover the day to day expenses required to operate the water, sewer, and natural gas systems; as well as funding the ongoing maintenance and capital improvement projects that enable us to comply with federal and state requirements. These requirements are designed to protect the public heath, while at the same time protecting the environment and ensuring a reliable and safe system.

Natural Gas Rates

**Recently Gallatin Public Utilities completed a Rate & Cost of Service Study for the natural gas system. The results of this study recommended the implementation of a meter charge for customers of the natural gas system. Beginning with the next billing cycle (October 2024 / November 2024) customers will start seeing the meter charge on their bills. The natural gas meter charge is being phased in over the next three years and is being implemented as an equitable means to fund the costs associated with the operation and maintenance of the natural gas system. If you have any questions regarding the natural gas meter charge, please contact our Business Office.**

Interruptible Rates

Rates for Preferred Interruptible (GXO), Interruptible (GIO), Interrutible Market Pool (GMO), and Interruptible Transportation (GTO) are subject to the terms and conditions outlined in their natural gas service contracts. These customers must meet the established criteria listed below to be eligible for service under the above referenced rate. Contract terms conditions are available on request from the Superintendent of Public Utilities.

For the Interruptible Rate (GIO) and the Interruptible Market Pool Rate (GMO) the charges are based on the sum of Gallatin's monthly commodity weighted average unit cost of gas including pipeline commodity and transportation, plus the above.

Eligibility Requirements

In order to be eligible for Interruptible Rate service under this rate, customers must meet each of the following criteria:

  1. The customer's purchase requirements must have a minimum usage, when not on curtailment, in excess of one thousand (1,000) ccf per day or thirty thousand (30,000) ccf per month.

  2. The customer's facilities must be located in an area of the natural gas system where the customer's daily volumes can be served. Each applicant for service under this rate will be reviewed on an individual basis; and

  4. The customer shall maintain, in usable condition, alternative fuel facilities with ample on-site alternate fuel capacity for 100% of the gas requirements during periods of gas interruption or curtailment; and

  5. The customer must use the natural gas primarily in a process which creates or changes raw or unfinished material into another form or product; and

  6. Service under this rate cannot be converted to service under other rate schedules except as follows: with sixty (60) days advance notice from the buyer of the requested change, service under this rate may be converted to service under other interruptible rates on the anniversary date of the initial service under this rate only; and

  7. The customer must have paid the Gallatin Gas Department for the cost of installation of all telemetry equipment to be owned and installed by the Gallatin Gas Department at the customer's facility.
